Program Settings Window

The "Program Settings" window is designated to tune The Mop utility.

To get this dialog window click the The MOP | Settings... command of main menu or press Shift+Ctrl+S keyboard shortcut.

The window has four tabs: "General", "Sound", "Internet" and "Language".

General Tab

The "General" tab is used to set up general properties of The Mop.

The Launch when Windows starts checkbox tunes whether The Mop starts every time Windows starts or not.

The Perform automatic cleaning checkbox tunes whether The Mop performs fully automatic cleaning or not. Fully automatic cleaning means that The Mop will clean your hard disk without any notification and can accidently classify useful files and folders as junk and remove them. If you try to turn on this feature you will be immediately prompted to confirm your intention to really use fully automatic cleaning. Use this feature on your own risk!

The Check shortcuts checkbox tunes The Mop scanning engine to check original objects that shortcuts refer to. If the original object is missed the shortcut will be classified as junk.

The Show file size in bytes checkbox tunes the way The Mop displays file and folder sizes. If the checkbox is set you'll see all sizes in bytes (e. g., "1536 bytes" or "2097152 bytes" instead of "1.5 Kb" or "2 Mb").

Sound Tab

The "Sound" tab is dedicated to settings related to using sound notifications of The Mop.

The Play sound when done checkbox defines whether The Mop uses sound notifications after long time operations (such as disk scanning) or not.

The Sound file field contains the fully qualified path to sound file to be played as notification sound. To select the sound file click the Open button or use Ctrl+O keyboard shortcut (standard "Open file" dialog box will appear; only WAV files are allowed). To check the sound file simply click the Play button (Ctrl+P keyboard shortcut).

Internet Tab

The "Internet" tab is dedicated to settings related to using Internet by The Mop.

The Use HTTP proxy server checkbox determines whether The Mop uses HTTP proxy server or not. The HTTP proxy server and HTTP proxy port fields describe which HTTP proxy server to be used. Please consult your network administrator or Internet provider support to learn HTTP proxy details; probably, there's no need to use HTTP proxy. In most cases HTTP proxy details can be obtaines automatically using Get defaults button (or Ctrl+D keyboard shortcut). To test your Internet connection click the Test settings button or use Ctrl+T keyboard shortcut.

The Automatically check for updates checkbox determines whether The Mop checks its web site for updates or not. If the update packages exist you will be prompted to download and install them. To use automatic updates you must be subscribed for update checking otherwise you will be suggested to renew your subscription.

The Automatically check news feeds checkbox determines whether The Mop checks official news feeds or not. If The Mop development team posts new message on feed you'll be notified immediately.

The Use on-line help if available checkbox determines whether The Mop use on-line copy of help system instead of local or not. Generally on-line version is more preferrable due to instant updates by development team and translation to your native language.

Language Tab

The "Language" tab is dedicated to settings related to language.

The Interface language drop down list defines which language will be used to interact with you.

The Help language drop down list defines which language version will be used if you call help system.

OK button closes this window and saves all changes made on all tabs. Cancel button simply closes this window and discards all changes. Help button displays this page of help system.
